I am a sucker fo a great sunset. I love to see how this big light ball disappears below the horizon. It's great to create some amazing photo's during those moments. But sometimes it is even better to wait for a little while. When the sun has set, the light has to travel through more atmosphere. Blue and violet light is being scattered. Red, orange, yellow and purple remain. So, do not go home after sunset. Continue photographing and use a long exposure in order to absorb more colors on your sensor. Glorious colors do not happen every day. Even not every week. Sometimes you are lucky and can catch the peak color. This peak color is probably there for one minute in the time frame of the magic hour. I love color and when i can catch it i am happy. This is the reason why i get up at 3AM or stay up all night to get lucky (sounds like a song )Canon 5DII, Zeiss Makro Planar 100mm f/2.0 @ f/13, iso 50, 25 seconds exposure time, remote release, tripod, 3 stops Lee ND standard filterGrt.
