I shot this heron against an overcast but bright sky, as it landed on the tree branches that you see below. Due to the lighting conditions and lack of scenery, the original image was most certainly not 500px worthy. However, I have always loved creating silhouette composites in Photoshop, and this heron capture was a perfect candidate! The clouds used in this composite are from a photograph that I took outside my back window, and the branches around the outer edge were applied with a Photoshop brush. The moon is a digital design, and a textured paper layer was used to create the starry sky effect.
