This is a late afternoon shot of the awesome South Haven South Pier Lighthouse on Lake Michigan I took a few days ago, just before the summer solstice. The fascinating structure on the right is an elevated walkway, or catwalk, that was used during the winter to access the lighthouse when the pier froze up. The lighthouse is 11 meters (36 feet) tall and 3,5 meters (11.5 feet) wide at its base and it is celebrating 110 years of its erection in November 1903.
You can read more about this lighthouse here.
Happy beginning of the summer to all!
