Our first leopard encounter – one of an amazing four! - during my recent stay in Kenya's Masai Mara was with this dashingly handsome young male just as the sun was coming up, bathing him in increasingly beautiful warm light as we followed him, and his sister (!) heading off through a field of wary antelope while being yapped at by a pair of black-backed jackals, until they finally disappeared from sight into a thicket some thirty minutes later. One of many thrilling high-points of this trip!
For the record: the small, brown protrusion you may note at the base of his right ear is in fact a bloodsucking tick. Much as I was tempted to remove it, in post-processing if not actually at the time, I decided to leave it in place!
