Recently I've been to Mouraria which is one of Lisbon districts with the greatest incidence of immigrants. I found shopping centers, filled with people with very diverse ethnic groups and where the portuguese was far from being the most common language heard. In one of the shops of an oldfashioned and dark mall, late 70's probably, I found this friendly chinese selling books, chinese artifacts and many other stuff. I waited for his store to be empty and ... tried to ask him for a photo, knowing that chinese immigrants aren't confortable at all being photographed. So I knew I would probably get a "NO!Leave!" for sure but, instead, I got a "million dollar" proud smile that you can see on the photo. After the shot, I showed him the photo on the lcd and, although we can not exchange a single word I could see we were both happy with that 30secs episode.
I'll probably go back there soon to deliver him the printed photo.
