Photographing Goðafoss in the winter presents a variety of challenges, the most frustrating of which is the freezing spray. One day, we drove about five hours with the intention of photographing this waterfall at sunset. As we drove up, a storm was starting to clear and beautiful puffy, peachy clouds were starting to form. It was going to be a brilliant sunset and we were excited. After walking out to the rim of the falls and setting up, the freezing temperatures and the heavy spray mixed, allowing a coat of ice to instantly form on any surface including our cameras. While no photography happened that particular evening, we did get decent wintery conditions (shown in this photo) on a different occasion.
