A very special church: Kvikne Church is a very special church that was built as a result of Kvikne Copper Works. It was the King - Christian IV - who gave orders to the district should have a new church when he visited the copper plant in 1635. However, it took time before the work started. The church was built in the years from 1652 to 1654, largely by volunteers for the rest of the villagers themselves. The church is externally distinctive and beautiful, but it is especially the interior that makes it different than most churches. The entire interior is original and gives "an atmosphere of peace, beauty and devotion," which built the historian Olav Trygve Hagen wrote around 1950. If you have time and opportunity, this is a cultural treasure that one should not neglect to visit.
