Tonight, 2012-01-09, would be the rise of the Full Wolf Moon. I was hoping that the sky would remain clear so that I would be able to go shooting and howling. Who can pass up howling to a Wolf Moon! :)
I wasn't disappointed by the scene, and met some nice people as a bonus! Also, a great big thank you to a special person who joined me to brave the cold for this event. I hope you also got some great shots.
From Farmer's Almanac:
• The Full Wolf Moon – January -- Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January’s full Moon. Sometimes it was also referred to as the Old Moon, or the Moon After Yule. Some called it the Full Snow Moon, but most tribes applied that name to the next Moon.
