Taken at the dawn alms ceremony in Luang Prabang, Laos.
Each morning about 400 monks leave their wats in the dark to walk through the town collecting alms from the devoted local people and also visitors.

I was lucky enough to attend this ceremony for three mornings during my stay. We would set out in the pitch black and wait for the light of dawn. Photography in such low light was challenging so I was lucky to be able to revisit as I found this experience to be completely overwhelming and wanted to enjoy the scene and shoot too.

The local people were happy to be photographed and on my third visit they recognised me and I was able to sit next to them and chat and enjoy the ceremony from a different point of view.

High ISO and low light make for grainy and soft focus (if any) images but I think you are still able to appreciate the scene.

I am compiling a coffee table book of trip to SE Asia so it is exciting to explore my files after again.
