it was just days after devastating hurricane katrina hit the gulf states of the u.s. i toured and photographed the remains of gulfport and pass christian, mississippi and was awestruck and mesmerized by the destruction. far, far inland, someone found this statue of the blessed mother under a pile of rubble. saying only that she was not catholic but believed that the statue must be rescued, the finder retrieved it and placed it in front of the hollowed out st. paul church in pass christian. the statue stood there as a symbol of hope for all who came to see that their house of worship was gone...
