The Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli - Assisi (PG) is a Catholic basilica located in Assisi, in the hamlet of the same name. It was built and designed by Galeazzo Alessi and with contributions by Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola from the second half of the sixteenth century. On top of the church stands a statue of the Virgin Mary covered with gold. Has the dignity of papal basilica. Inside there is the Portiuncula, the chapel where gathered in prayer St. Francis of Assisi, and this center of Franciscan spirituality.
