I had taken some photos of this cormorant while it was fishing at Andrew Hayden Park, Ottawa, but all you could see was its long thin neck and head. However, as I was leaving the park, I spotted the cormorant out of the water close to shore where it was resting and preening. Fortunately, I was able to get reasonably close to this normally shy bird to get this photo. It is a juvenile, as indicated by the pale neck and breast (these are much darker, mostly black, in adults). Although the two crests on the head aren't standing up, you can see the two crest patches on the forehead.
