"Arctic Alps"

The majestic Lyngen alps in Troms, Northern Norway, shot on Januar 24 2012, a night containing spectacular auroras from the hugest solar flare in 7 years. This shot however was done in between the most intense auroras, as I did not want the auroras to steal all the attention from the beautiful landscape and mountaints. :)

Auroras was all over the skies this evening, which makes it fantastic for documenting
the phenomena, but more challenging to make a landscape photography which balances the elements well.

The Lyngen Alps are a major tourist attraction, attracting freeride skiers from
all over the world, every year. Sadly the alps are dangerous and many people often
get injured and have to be rescued. The alps are known for the dangerous steep
walls, but also for it's beauty.

In the foreground a partially frozen pond, giving awesome reflections from the
wonderful aurora dancing over the alps.

Shot with 14mm on a full frame body, so you can imagine the alps are huge!

Very windy, and very cold this evening, but you seem to forget this when
standing there overwhelmed by natures finest displays.

Hope you like it,
