This photo is from a recent trip up to Humboldt Redwoods State Park. As you drive along the Avenue of the Giants, which is about 32 miles long, you will come across countless groves of redwood trees. This one was my favorite with a mixture of old growth redwood trees that are up to 2000 years old.
What caught my eye was the dense ground cover, which I believe is called Wood Sorrel. There were countless trails, all unofficial, meandering deeper and deeper into the forest. Not a soul was around, except perhaps the Bigfoot that I never saw. This is truly the land of fairy tales.
