From Monument Valley, we finally got out of the desert and into the higher mesas of SW Colorado, specifically Mesa Verde. We camped here for a couple nights touring the cliff dwellings. On our way back to camp, the sky was starting to shape up for a nice show, so we stopped at Park Point Overlook, the highest point in the park for this view. It was a little cold and windy up here and a bunch of other spectators left just as the sun sunk below the horizon. They missed the best part! Most of the color came after the sun had actually set, which I will post a of shot later on.
