These two rocks remind me of the stone faces of Easter Island … though only after processing did that resemblance become clear to me; hence the title of this photo. Taken at City of Rocks State Park,
New Mexico. Some of these rocks stand up to 12m (40ft.) high. Composed of ash ejected from an accent volcanic eruption, the rocks have weathered over millions of years to form these towers and many more in this relatively small area.
