Last summer when everyone posted images from an ice cave at Mt. Rainier I was super bummed that I didn't know about it. Fast forward to this summer...I had completely forgotten about how much I wanted to crawl inside my first ice cave until I was hiking in the paradise area with Dene' Miles (seriously check out her awesome work: http://500px.com/denemiles). We found the ice cave with a little direction from one of her friends and I tentatively stepped inside. It is rather humbling when you realize that it really isn't very safe to be in a melting tunnel. Dene' was smart and stayed back out of harms way (at least for a while).
This was my last image and it was also the furthest I ventured into the cave. It ended up being the most balanced image and if you look closely you can see the water streaming down.
If you want to check out a way cooler image from this spot check out the shot by Miles Morgan from last year: http://500px.com/photo/27547277
