The Millennium bridge was completed in November 2000 and links Gateshead and Newcastle.
It was designed to move and allow tall ships to pass underneath. At the time of writing is still unique as the only tilting bridge in the world.
Each tilt takes four minutes. It has been likened to looking like an eye as it moves; in this state it reminds me of the jaws of a Great White shark!
In the background is the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. Amongst other world class, contemporary exhibitions, it hosted this years Turner Prize.
