One cold winter day I thought I'd try a different spot for finding birds at Newport News Park and I came up to a bridge where some kind soul had put out little piles of bird seed here and there. "Oh, this will be good!", I thought to myself, so I stopped and waited...and only a short time passed before the birds began to fly in; tufted tit-mice, nuthatches and chickadees. Another photographer friend came along and we both joyfully took shot after shot. I remarked to him that the chickadees were so tiny that you could fit one in your mouth--an odd thing to say perhaps--but true, they are that small! They are tiny, quick as a wink and very brave--especially considering their size and they are one of my favorite birds.
