This cave is only accessible on very low tides and quite isolated. Normally people aren't an issue when I go there to photograph the cave itself. On this occasion is was sitting back waiting for the right moment to take a series of exposures for a panorama image I wanted to create. I decided I'd shoot the panorama with the short end of my 24-70mm lens and had the camera set up on a tripod ready to go. Waves and whitewater entering the cave through various entrances makes the amount of light in the cave a constant variable. I had taking a series of measures and was ready to shoot a range of exposures when this couple stood right in front of me. At first they didn't realise I was behind them because it is quite dark in sections of the cave until your eyes adjust. I told them I was in no rush and as they stood there admiring the view I quickly zoomed, adjusted settings and took a photo. Their bodies were blocking some of the strong light coming through one of the cave entrances and by chance I ended up with what I think is one of my best photos of 2011.
