i set off to iceland last month not very mindful of shooting northern lights but instead to capture some really good glacier ice flowing from the jokulsarlon lagoon to the black beach.

the sunset was inviting at the lagoon but I have already been there twice, so this time i took one shot early from the lagoon and rushed all by myself to the beach catching these blocks of ice amongst a few I took near the end of the shoreline.

one of those moments that define a journey and a thirst for getting what I had set out to experience. one shot in 9 days was more than enough for the mindset I had during the entire trip. had this the last sunset. i was not going to risk going for this during sunrise given the forecast i saw on the icelandic met office site. I was right.

the title, inspired by the movie OBLIVION.
