This shot was a bit lucky for me. I went to Onna Village to see what kind of sunset shot I could get. Once I got there I realized the typical sunset along with the ocean was not going to happen so I found a hiking trail and headed up to see if I could get the sunset against the mountain. Unfortunately I wasn't familiar with the area and didn't find a good spot to wait. I hurriedly made my way through this forested/jungled path when I saw the setting sun come through the trees and provide a beautiful light along the path. I say to myself STOP, kneel down take the shot. Then I moved the dial on my 7D to my custom preset for HDR and took some more photos. In the end, I used the first shot I took (this is not HDR) because the star effect was only available for a few seconds. If it wasn't for the sun and the path, I would have dismissed this photo because it's a bit busy for my taste but I think those two elements take the eye away from the chaos of the jungle. Your thoughts?
