The late summer sun sets on one of the Colorado River’s most famous overlooks. Horseshoe Bend is an awe inspiring overlook that is a quick half mile hike and a short 3 mile drive from Page, Arizona. I have seen images from Horseshoe Bend for many years and have wanted to get down there to capture it myself but have never had the opportunity. My recent road trip to Southern Utah was a perfect opportunity to finally take a look for myself. I arrived just in time to set up and find a good location. As expected in late summer there were dozens of other photographers set up to shoot but all had left by the time I shot the last light of the setting sun. This is a composite image since I wasn’t able to get the entire shot that I wanted with my 15mm Canon fisheye lens. I switched it up and shot with my 16-35 in a vertical composition and then quickly shot the entire scene to be able to put this image together.
