Prior to this visit, I was beginning to think that this waterfall was mocking me. I've been photographing it for years, and every time I went, there was some new problem making the scene less photogenic than it could be. Once the waterfall even turned out to be completely dry, with its pool reduced to a puddle containing a couple of very unfortunate little trouts. Another time I showed up when the water had flooded clear into the woods, depositing a mess of huge, broken branches around its edges like a gnarly fortress. Finally, the waterfall let its guard down. With a few stealthy maneuvers (fake left, then go right), I managed to sneak up on it and catch it looking pretty.
P.S. Special thanks to the Brotogs…you know who you are!
