As you have maybe noticed, I don't take a lot of portrait. The academic side of this art doesn't interest me. To awake in me the desire, and to ignore my habits, I need a good dose of emotion and surprise. This can not be planned, or it would ruin everything.
I need a face that appears suddently and disappears already. The crossing of two instants of life, a slight moment of suspension, a tacit agreement...and tempus fugit again.
We were walking in Tokyo when I saw this man, cooking behind a window; both focused and thoughtful, performing acts repeated thousands of times since millenium.. He was like out of an ancient dream. One second to take the shot to this particular moment. One second later he was gone.
If you feel to watch our Tokyo's trip, it's right here: http://menilmonde.com/48h-a-tokyo-09/
Have a soft day :)
