Closely grouped volcanic peaks aptly named Three Sisters by early Methodist settlers compete for space in the Cascade Wilderness. The eldest sibling called “Faith”, long considered extinct, towers high with rock pinnacles and glaciers. The smallest middle sister named “Hope” consists of primarily basalt rock, having lost her original coned form by glaciations. “Charity”, the youngest- yet tallest of the trio, dutifully holds the highest ‘crater’ lake in Oregon.
