I was on my way to bed and thought I would check the aurora warning on http://www.gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast/Europe/ and since it had a rating of 3 I went outside to check, and saw it very faint. Quick in and get some warm clothing and grap the camera and tripod and out as fast as possible since it was ultra slippery and dark as soon as I went away from the street lights. I took this as one of the first and even though the foreground is awefull I had to be content with it because while I found more interesting foreground later on the aurora faded rather fast and after perhaps 15 minutes it was all but a faint green cast in the sky. Lesson learned yet again, hurry when its there and grap some frames!
