I love dramatic moody weather. I drove into the Monument Valley area in the night and through a storm. The skies the following morning and subsequently all day, were brooding and threatening. The winds picked up and at times was quite chilly. It made the time in the hogan and around the wood burning stove cozy and inviting. Especially when the cast-iron stove had a coffee pot on it.
The dramatic weather creates a bit of magic on the desert landscapes, the soft muted light and over cast sky allows the beautifully rich colors of the desert to really sing. Buttes partially lit in the background by break-through light creates a sense of drama.
If you can't be home, cozy and curled by the fireplace...you might as well be out in it !!
The only thing you can't see in this image...is how cold I was !!
