During our last trip to the USA (now seems like ages ago!) I had plans for photographing Mount Rainier from Tipsoo Lake. On the first visit, not knowing the area and arriving in the dark, I only found myself trudging around the slush at Lower Tipsoo Lake. There was a glorious sunrise with anticrepuscular rays and all! After finding out that Upper Tipsoo was DIRECTLY OFF THE ROAD (grrr!) our subsequent two visits en route to other places coincided with snow and no distant visibility. It was a cool experience to see this kind of scenery though - especially coming from Adelaide where we sometimes call the flakes that fall at our Mt Lofty (720m) snow!
I imagine Mount Rainier to be about where I put it in this image (from a shot taken at Bench Lake) and about how visible it may have been in slightly less opaque conditions.
