4 or 5 years ago I started experimenting with what I call "light bleed". Allowing highlights and warm light to bleed out from the direction of the sun. I started playing technique after being inspired by my favorite artist Albert Bierstadt, whos paintings often featured a strong glowing backlight.
People seem to have really enjoyed the look over the years as many have adopted it in their own workflow... which is awesome because it really can be a beautiful technique. Recently though, I have really been fine-tuning this look. I was getting pretty heavy handed with it in the past year, making my images look pretty obnoxious. I've finally dialed it in though. and this image (as well as my last) are both prime examples of what I'm really going for when I accentuate and bleed light.
Anyways, like everyone else in this crowded nature photography scene, I lead workshops, I teach processing instruction in person or worldwide via Skype or Google Hangout screen sharing, and have a website with images, workshop info, prints, and yadda, yadda, yadda. www.ryandyarphotography.com
