The living organism knows as a banyan tree puts out a series of roots from its branches that support the tree. Over time they become a part of the tree, becoming indistinguishable from the branches they came from.

The first of a shot series of images I've finished of a careful reshoot of a banyan tree I shot a month or so ago. For the most part, I used a very steady tripod, but this image incidentally started out life as part of a vertical panorama. A larger aperture was originally used to highlight the grass, but in retrospect, I wish I'd used a smaller aperture to maximize the relationship between the grass and the tree roots.
