This is another composition from an early morning shoot on an ice-shelf on the Yukon River from late last November, just before the sun came up. It was one of the more spectacular mornings this past winter, with an almost Biblical bar of light streaking across the clouds. Winter is a great time for shooting early morning landscapes in the North-- the sun doesn't start coming up until around 10 a.m, a very civilized time to be out and about, and it sure beats 4:00 am or earlier in the warm months.

Technical: 2 exposures, one for the sky, and a longer one for the foreground, hand-blended using layer masks in CS5.
