After hearing about the solar flare on Wednesday on the news, I got really exited and thought where could I go to get a once in a lifetime shot. Hmmm.... I bet Palouse falls with the northern lights dancing above would be sweet, right! Well while I am sure it would be, it is certainly not the best place to see the norhtern ligths. For one that far south one needs to be able to see the horizon or at least close to it. None of this entered my head though as I grabbed my stuff in a flurry and headed out the door around 12:30 in Bellngham. I sped the whole way to the falls and just barely made it in time for sunset. So while I realized as soon as I got out of my car that I probably wasn't going to see the norhtern lights what I did see was an amazing sunset, the best I have ever seen at Palouse Falls. I feel that it was well worth the trip, but next time when I hear about solar flares I will think it through a little bit and head north. I would love to hear your thoughts on this one and thanks for looking!
