It was one hell of trip to this viewpoint on Broken Top. Leaving the house around 1am we weren't sure how far we were going to make it with all the snow. To top it off we had little knowledge of where the trailhead was to summit the mountain. Half way up the wind started to pick up and thats when things started to get interesting. Stopping a few times to make a fire, take a break, and gather some warmth we weren't sure how we were going to make it. The wind started blowing around 30-40mph and I could barely hold my tripod still. As the sun started to rise, we could see all of Bend, and I started scrambling to find a composition. The layers under Broken Tops gritty body have always attracted my eye. I tried to focus on the detail of the mountain more than the body. I have only been up here a handful of times since I moved to Bend and I can tell it is my new favorite spot.
