I pass this pile of sticks just about every time I go shooting in the woods, and it always begs me to photograph it. Well, *it* doesn't actually beg...but I am always drawn to it and it always says something to me about how many different interpretations it could give. When I was out with my friend Olivia here, we were set to shoot a different picture, and we did. Though I suddenly felt so inspired to shoot a nude, that we ventured over to the sticks and stood there and stared. I sometimes do that when I want to shoot on a whim, though saying "whim" isn't really accurate. Since I had seen this pile so many times I knew where my thoughts were headed already.
I sat on the pile of sticks first to make sure it wouldn't cave in, and to see if an animal would run out from under it. After no collapse and no animal invasion as well, she climbed on up...not an easy task, or a comfortable one. I think she had stick marks all over her body for an hour afterwards. I was excited though by what I saw as a finished product in my mind, and she trusted me - that is often the art of collaboration.
Later that night we went out for dinner, and the result was my first case of food poisoning. I'll leave that story for another day.
