So.... I was giving a talk the other night and I received this comment from someone in the audience when I showed a series of images (just one shown here): "These images would not make it in a competition."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because they have something in common: an even number of subjects in each image. You need to follow the rules of odds." I replied: "I did not write the rules of composition, why the heck should I follow them? :-)

I think ALL photographers should listen to critiques. But as with music and other art forms, it's best to follow your heart . . . or use your clone stamp or eraser tool to create images with an odd number of subjects.

All that said, there is something to be said for the Rule of Odds, as odd as that may seem.....:-)
