This shot was taken just after darkness had set on the Himalayan range. After shooting the sunset from a nearby stream, I had to scramble up a steep mud slide slope to get back on the trail. The exertion in the high altitude thin air forced me to stop and catch my breath for several minutes. The valley was in complete darkness, but as I looked back towards Mt. Everest, the range was catching the last light. The combination of the clouds streaking off the top of Lhotse and the fog that had suddenly appeared below the range created quite a dramatic scene.
