Highly visited, highly photographed, which can usually put a bad taste in my mouth for icons such as Moraine Lake. But, when I visited Banff for the first time last fall, I couldn't resist seeing it, and photographing it... umm, three times. I know I know, but I just really wanted a nice shot of this place, haha. Out of those visits, it wasn't a sunrise or a sunset that got the award for the best light, but it was at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. I've trained my brain to completely forget about shooting mid-day, but sometimes great things can happen in the middle of the day. This was a good reminder of that. I came here that morning to try and catch a sunrise, but had no luck. I was dead tired, fell asleep in my car in the parking lot, and when I woke up, this was waiting for me. I always love being able to sit and watch weather move through a mountain range, and doing that here, at one of the most beautiful spots on earth was a real pleasure. Happy to have this as a momento.
