More than 4700 US sailors will arrive in Fremantle tomorrow ahead of ANZAC Day celebrations.

The nuclear-powered Nimitz class carrier, the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and Bunker Hill (CG 52), along with Carrier Air Wing 17 and Destroyer Squadron One will cruise into Gage Roads where they will be anchored for few days.

The sailors have just recently completed a bilateral exercise called Malabar with the Indian Navy and are expected to enjoy a rest and relaxation visit in Perth, one of the highlights of their 6-month deployment.

In May 2011, the USS Carl Vinson, was the vessel on which Osama bin Laden’s body was taken and buried at sea following a religious ceremony onboard.
