I captured this in a wheat field in southern AZ on 5/5/2012. I had my camera low pointed up a good distance above the horizon on a tripod. I was using the 70-200 lens and believe my shutter was 1/4 sec to pick up the setting sun's light on the wheat. Once the moon was above the horizon it lost it orange flavor and hazy look. I switched my d800 over to DX mode making my 70-200 a 105-300 sort of speak. This is what gives the moon a larger appearance. The shots were taken seconds apart same exposure. I thought about working with the original picture leaving the moon or wheat blurred but to me this was more appealing. Sure it breaks some laws but that’s what makes photography fun!
