Originally shot this as a 360 degree panorama to produce "My Little World" (3 photos ago). I thought I would share a straight view of the sceen. Cropped to about a 210 degree view to just include the plane of the Milky Way. The stretched stars towards the top of the frame is as a result of the stitching process. To avoid this I need to record a lot more of the sky above the Milky Way. Lesson learnt....
The Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (Dwarf satellite gallaxies) are enclosed by the Milky Way. Orange glow on the horizon is from a city about 100 kilometres (65 miles) away. I'm standing on the horizon just to the left of the central bulge of the Milky Way.
