Stars arc above the Durdle Door rock arch on Dorset's Jurassic coast.

Having aborted my first attempt to capture this landmark due to a bright full moon, I returned a few weeks later to experience some of the darkest conditions I've ever shot in.

It's the only time I've ever found it too dark to compose through the viewfinder so I ended up shooting a series of 30sec test frames at ISO6400 to get the right framing and a level horizon.

It was pretty cold so I paced up and down the beach listening to the tide slowly slip down the beach.

The final shot is a single frame rather than a stack and lasted nearly half an hour.
