My first trip to the Pacific Northwest was right in the middle of March. I knew ahead of time it would be rainy and wet, and despite the abundance of overcast days, I had a number of amazing sunrises and sunsets.

I absolutely fell in love with Washington, especially the small town of Anacortes, where I was fortunate enough to stay for a few weeks with a close friend and his family. This particular image was made at sunset at Rosario Beach on the west side of Anacortes.

While this image provides a sense of calmness and tranquility for me, it was actually 40 degrees or below outside, and insanely windy! My friend, who was smart enough to bring gloves and face protection, just kept laughing at me as I wiped the snot dripping from my nose with my bare frozen fingers, trying not to drop my filters on the ground as I fumbled around with frozen hands.

Albeit a very cold and windy evening, the amazing light and beautiful scenery made up for standing in the cold for hours.

Thanks for looking!
