This was from the first day of shooting in the PNW. It was way up in the Hoh Rainforest in the Olympic Peninsula. It is a true temperate rianforest, averaging 150" of rain a year. Miami gets around 50". The rainforests and forests in general are what draw me in. In retrospect, I wish I had spent much more time... here.

Anyways, this "tree" is actually a large Big Leaf Maple(at least 100 ft) with a Vine Maple branching out in the foreground. Both are covered in mosses, like many of the trees in the rainforest. It is so lush and so hard to compose, but this scene just jumped out. The small bit of fog really helped the atmosphere. Later on, in different light, this scene just did not work. It is definitely a special image for me, I hope you all enjoy it.
