The Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia), Beginning of a small series on one of my favorites. This little guy was part of a clutch of 4 to 6 owlets. It is amazing to see how they vary in size and age. After some investigation and reading. I learned the female lays the eggs a few days apart, and thus the differences in size and age of the new owlets. The male parent brought a worm back to the female, who distributed the food! So this aggressive, or should i say hungry owlet chick was all over it!
This image was shot from a prone position, throwing the front and back oof. This was after some big unexpected, yet welcomed south florida rains, thus the spect highlights on some of the blades of grass...Did use selective curves/masks to control. Thks for your C&C, and make it a great day, regardless of the world's ongoing STUPIDITY!
