aka as Ursus arctos beringianus. This particular fellow was quite nosy and moving here and there in its compound, chasing its bear friends. The final image is a bit of a departure from the the original image. It's pretty dark, I know, but I like it this way.
Apart from the usual benefits of converting hairy animals to b&w (like accentuating the structure of the fur, etc.) in this particular case the conversion added a certain air of timelessness to the portrait. Don't know if this makes any sense to you but it's about as good as as I am able to express myself here.
