It was our sixth evening in Iceland and we had still not seen the famous midnight sunsets due to constant heavy cloud cover. After looking at satellite images, we made the decision to make the long drive from southern Iceland to near the north coast in search of better skies. We arrived at the Dettifoss and Selfoss waterfalls with very promising clouds and were treated later that night to an incredible sunset/sunrise - the best we would see on the trip. The color lasted for hours and we shot and timelapsed until we ran out of compositions (and tolerance for the ever-annoying bugs).
