I was in 'de Biesbosch', one of Holland's most beautiful wetland areas. I had taken the small rubber boat out very early in the morning. In front of me a swan couple was peacefully floating in the first light.
All of a sudden another male swan landed right behind me and I just knew the male of the couple would defend his territory and his spouse.

So I quickly positioned the rubber boat in between the two males, pointed the camera, ducked low and waited.

It was only a couple of seconds later that the couple's male indeed took off towards his rival, 'walked on water' with long strides and big splashes before he, only meters away from me, lifted off and soared over me just by maybe 1,5 meters. Pfuw!
It's already an older shot but it still is one of my own favorites.
