Chance of seeing aurora borealis or northern light in Iceland during winter is great because of its appropriate latitude. Anyway, you have got to have sky open during the night.

This shot was taken around 4 am at Jokulsarlon (Glacier Lagoon) while the northern light had been fading. Before this time the light was very active but the sky completely closed by rain cloud.
