We quickly rolled our luggage through the chanting mass of people, darted around multiple lines of horse-mounted, riot-geared police and quietly made our way to the hotel. Our afternoon was planned around the sounds of police helicopters tracking rioters from above. Helicopter to the south? Perhaps we should head north along the waterfront.
By evening I figured the roof deck of our hotel would provide safe distance to watch any lingering activity, but Post Alley and Pike Place Market were eerily quiet. No more helicopter rotors, just the sound of Seagulls and the ferry approaching the dock. A perfect Seattle day.
